Community Disability Services Calgary

I had always wanted to have a career where I felt good about myself when the day was over…. I hope that I might have made someone’s day a little easier, that I might have changed a bad day into a good one, and that I have somehow improved someone’s quality of life.

I was attracted to a career with this organization because my sister was working here and I noticed that she seemed happy and fulfilled….If I can make one person smile or help and individual with something he or she really enjoys, then I can see that I am making a difference.

I was attracted to a career in the community disability services sector because many members of my family have worked in this field. I have seen what a difference one person can make in another person’s life, and I wanted to be able to positively impact the lives of others.

In a career in community disability services, every day is different. It is very rewarding to know that each day I may have made a positive change in someone’s life.

I was initially attracted to a career with this organization because I noticed that there were many staff members who had stayed at this agency for a long period of time. I really like the individuals that I work with, and the atmosphere here is laid back, which allows everyone to be themselves.

I enjoy front line work where I get to interact daily with many important members of the community. I have a number of good friends within the disability community that constantly amaze me with their good humour and their interest in how my day (and life) is going. In other words, work in this field is a two-way street. I easily get as much back as I give.

I was attracted to a career in the community disability services sector because I enjoy assisting others to improve their quality of life and I wanted to make a difference. I try very hard to develop quality relationships with those I support. I find this makes it easier for them to trust me and to share their feelings, dreams, and hopes for the future.
