Recruitment PracticesCommunity VisibilityOur organization has established long lasting relationships with several businesses that have high customer and public traffic that increases our community presence and visibility (e.g. grocery stores, golf courses, fast food locations). At present, we are affiliated with approximately 55 businesses and individuals. The more we become involved with local businesses, the more we can increase awareness of our organization to individuals who may be potential staff members. Posters on Church Bulletin BoardsWe are located in rural areas and in the past we ran some of our programs out of local churches. The positive relationships established with the churches allow us to display our recruitment posters on bulletin boards within their buildings. This strategy has proven to be effective. We find that most of the applicants we receive using this strategy possess some of the requisite values and morals we are looking for. Fundraising and Word of MouthOur organization hosts four or five events a year that help us to gain exposure in different sectors of our community. We have used these events to showcase our society and some individuals who attend or participate in these events end up applying for positions with us. In smaller settings, we find that word of mouth also helps increase awareness and recruit staff. We have not experienced a shortage of staff and we believe that is a result of the effectiveness of our strategies. |
