Recruitment Practices

Recruitment through current employees

I was originally attracted to a career in the community disability services sector because I wanted to work with individuals with disabilities. Throughout my career, I have found those who work in this field to be extremely committed and compassionate.
-Team Leader (Over 10 years) Columbia College
We encourage our employees who are committed to our organizational culture to promote our current employment opportunities to their various social networks.

We have seen time and again that our employees are the best promoters of our organizational culture to the outside world. Through their promotion our employees provide convincing reasons and ways to explore career opportunities with us to their friends, acquaintances and relatives. Great employees tend to attract other great employees; success breeds success.

Practicum Placements

We provide practicum opportunities to students enrolled in applicable post secondary studies. Over the course of their practicum, these students become very familiar with our organizational culture and some develop an interest in working at our agency as an employee once they graduate.

This strategy is successful. Currently 8 of our 35 employees are former practicum students.
